Google Algorithms are indexing and ranking systems. They are highly advanced of late and are producing better results. The company keeps on updating its algorithms for even better results no wonder it has a search market share of 97 %.

The updates are frequent and make news among webmasters whenever an update is announced. After the announcement webmaster make haste to discover the impact and how their client sites are hit. The website rank well if they follow the search engine companies’ guidelines. There are over 200 metrics that impact SEO or search engine optimization of websites. Of these few metrics are known few come to be known when Google updates are announced otherwise most of the updates remain hidden. The best recourse is to follow the guidelines well and to make a better and better site with fast downloading and good content.

Updates are of different types some are announced while others are hidden. Some impact the core algorithms while some are effective in making a minor impact.

Google confirmed this broad core algorithm update and it was meant to be similar to the March 9, 2018 update, which was about content relevance.    

August 1, 2018

Broad Core Algorithm Update

Google confirmed a third-time update this year called the broad core algorithm update. Often called “Medic” by Google said it was a general ranking update and wasn’t targeting medical sites.

September 27, 2018

A “Small” Update

On September 27 began noticing significant spikes and drops in traffic, indicating an update. Some of the sites impacted by the August broad core algorithm update reportedly made a recovery. Some short small updates took place and they were not broad core updates.

October 31, 2018

Unconfirmed Halloween Update Some webmasters reported changes beginning during Halloween, indicating a Google update. There was little evidence of a significant update. The more likely it was spillover from the August broad core algorithm update.
